Collection: Racing Gloves

Driver race gloves, crew gloves, mechanics gloves and unrated driving gloves all sit here — the FIA number in the title is what separates them.

About Racing Gloves

Four different kinds of glove sit on this page, and only one of them is what a tech inspector wants to see on a driver.

Driver race gloves are the FIA 8856-2018 ones — Sabelt's range carries it throughout, as do OMP's First and Sport.

Crew and mechanics gloves are a separate category. Sparco's R-Meca and R-Tide Meca are FIA-homologated, but for pit crew rather than driving; the Sportac, OMP Pro Mech, Simpson Mechanics Kevlar and Alpinestars Engine gloves are workshop gloves with no driver homologation.

Driving gloves — the Sparco Sport Drive Wool and the OMP Tazio — are for road use and carry no rating at all. There are gaming gloves here too.

Within the driver gloves, the brands number their ranges consistently: Sabelt run TG-2.2 up to TG-12, OMP go First and Sport through Tecnica to One Evo X, Sparco run Land and Tide, and Alpinestars go Tech-1 Start, Race, then ZX. Several Sparco and OMP gloves also carry a model year, so check which revision you are looking at before reusing a size that worked before.
