About Racing Suits

A suit is bought to a standard, and the standard is in the title.

FIA 8856-2018 is the international homologation most circuit series ask for. SFI 3.2A/5 is the common North American equivalent — and the number after the slash is a protection level, so SFI 3.2A/15 and SFI-20 suits like the Air-15 and X20 are multi-layer garments built for drag racing rather than circuit work. Buying up that scale is not an upgrade for a road-course driver; it is a hotter, heavier suit than you need.

Boot-cut matters more than people expect. Sparco and OMP both list boot-cut versions, where the leg is cut to sit over a racing boot rather than inside it. Decide which you want before ordering — it is not a detail you can adjust later.

Several ranges are also sold as separate jackets and pants — the Stint, Air-15 and X20 among them — which lets you size the halves independently and replace one without the other.
