About Racing Brakes and Rotors
Everything that slows the car: pads, two-piece and replacement rotors, big brake kits, calipers, lines, fluid, ducting and the hardware that goes with them.
If you are upgrading brakes for track use, the order that gives you the most for your money is usually fluid, then pads, then ducting, then rotors — and calipers last, if at all. High-temperature fluid is the cheapest insurance against a long pedal, and most cars that people think need a big brake kit actually need a pad that can take the heat and some air fed to it.
Rotors are a wear item at track pace rather than a lifetime part. Two-piece rotors cost more up front but replace as a ring, which works out cheaper if you are getting through them.
